Greetings, Pershing Families,
As many of you know, Mrs. Kray has moved on to serve as principal of Patrick Henry High School. While she will certainly be missed at Pershing, I know you will have opportunities to reconnect with her in the future.
My name is Jeff Olivero, and I am honored to serve as Pershing's interim principal. I retired in 2021, but since then, I have continued supporting schools as an interim administrator when needed. It allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds: I have time for golf, travel, exercise, reading, and all the other joys of retirement, while still working with students, staff, and families.
Although I am retired, I continue to enjoy being part of school communities and supporting organizations that inspire the growth and success of young people. I also teach Project Read, a course for educators at the University of San Diego, which helps me stay connected to current trends and practices in education.
Before retiring, I served as principal of University City High School for ten years and, prior to that, as principal of Mira Mesa High School. From teaching and coaching to serving as an administrator, I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every step of my career in education.
While I expect my time at Pershing Middle School to be brief, I am excited to get to know the Pershing community and support its outstanding staff as they work to foster each student's academic, social, and emotional growth.
If you see me around campus, please stop and say hello! I go by Mr. O., Coach O., or Mr. Olivero - whichever feels most comfortable.
In partnership,
Jeff Olivero
