The goal of the Pershing Physical Education Department is to provide a fun environment where students can feel good about themselves while engaging in activities to build teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness. A physically educated Pershing student will have the knowledge and ability needed to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

Physical Education Requirements and Class Participation
During the first week of school, our P.E. teachers will discuss class expectations with the students. If you have specific questions, call or email your child's P.E. teacher directly. For 5th grade families who would like more information about our program, please attend one of our campus tours and/or the Incoming 6th Grade Parent Orientation in August. Administrators, teachers, or staff will be available at these events to answer any questions. For all other concerns, call the school office at (619) 362-3550.

The Number One Most Frequently Asked Question:
Do students take showers after PE? The answer, no, students do not take showers after their PE class.

PE Clothes, Locks, and Planners
Pershing does require that students wear PE uniforms for PE classes. The uniform consists of black, knee length shorts and light gray tee shirts that reach below the waist with short sleeves and a crew neck. Light gray pullover sweatshirts and light gray sweatpants may also be worn. Pockets are not permitted on any PE clothing item.

PE shorts, shirts and locks may be purchased either at Pershing or at a store of your choice. Though uniforms and locks do not have to be purchased from the school, as a convenience to our families, our Finance Office does sell shirts, shorts, and locks.

Class Activities
The Pershing P.E. program is a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy physical fitness education in a fun and supportive environment.

Some of our program's activities include frisbee, pre-fitness training, fitness training, running, weight training, basketball, soccer, table tennis, handball, field sports, and much more!

Thursday Running Program
A very popular activity on campus is the PE Department's weekly Thursday Running Program where students can make-up a missed class run and/or earn extra credit points. To learn more about this terrific program, please email the PE coaches.
