What type of technology do you have?
We are very proud of the expansive technological resources that we have available on our campus. Much of our equipment has been received through the Prop S taxpayer supported bond measure, our parent organization, the Pershing Foundation, other donations, and grants. Here is a listing of some of our current resources.
Through Prop S, all district core classrooms are outfitted with technology tools designed to optimize teaching and learning through the interconnected use of mobile computing, audio, visual and formative assessment technologies across the curriculum.
With this vision, and funding through Proposition S, San Diego Unified has taken a bold step toward the transformation of the learning environment in each of its 7,000 classrooms. Coupled with the digital tools is a comprehensive professional development and support plan designed to support achievement for all students.
An important component of the i21 classroom is the student response system. Each student netbook computer includes the software that allows students to respond electronically in real time to teacher questions, quizzes or discussions. The system affords teachers the flexibility to request responses in a variety of ways - such as multiple choice, rating scale, or open text.
This new style of interaction offers immediate feedback for teacher and students alike. Teachers are able to quickly gauge student comprehension to provide additional instruction where needed. Students who might be too shy to raise a hand in traditional classroom settings now have a new, low-pressure way to participate. Every student can have an equal voice.
In addition to the i21 classroom, ten district schools, including Pershing, are participating in The Learning On The Go (LOGO) program. The program supplies each sixth grade school student with netbook computers intended to travel between home and school. The netbooks are equipped with 3G wireless access cards, allowing students to access the Internet from virtually anywhere.
- Laptop for every student
- 40 PC computers for our Engineering program (Special grant).
- Computers in our library. The lab is used by students before school, during lunch and after school.
- Some classrooms have desktop computers.
- All teachers have document projectors and Promethean Boards (Smart Boards) that work with their computer.
We are seeking donations of cameras and video cameras. Please consider donating a new or gently used digital camera to us. We also would like memory sticks. Please help us if at all possible.
