Welcome to Pershing Middle School! As a long time resident of the San
Carlos community, it is my honor and pleasure to serve the families at
Pershing Middle School. I believe that students make their best progress
in a safe and caring environment with academics, social and emotional
growth at the forefront of our mission.
Middle School is a
challenging time for young people and it is my goal to ensure that we
provide the most positive and engaging environment in which students can
explore new ideas, cultivate their dreams, and thrive as learners.
Some people say that time spent in middle school is something that must
be endured. I have to disagree. At Pershing, we know and understand
middle school students and we love working with them! They are eager to
learn, interested in making the world a better place and and they love
new challenges.
At Pershing, students are engaged in learning;
they work together collaboratively, write poetry, learn to speak
Spanish, play musical instruments, sing and act in plays, build
windmills, develop science fair projects, create Yearbooks and student
broadcasts, participate in debates, justify their answers in math, win
spelling bees and many other awards, attend 6th grade Camp, travel to
the East Coast during spring break, learn new technology skills such as
"Coding" and "Scratch", develop positive relationships with teachers and
staff members, make new friends and learn more about themselves than
ever before.
Teachers, counselors, and administrators at Pershing
ensure that students are learning in a caring environment; where it
is okay to make mistakes and learn from them, where it is safe to share
new ideas, where various cultural traditions are valued, and where all
students are challenged to think deeply, reflect on their work, and set
lofty goals.
As your Principal, I welcome you to an exciting
adventure and encourage all families to participate in our school
activities and daily events. This is not the time to stop volunteering!
Parent involvement in middle school is more critical and crucial than
ever before. As a hands on Principal that truly enjoys working with the
students, parents and our wonderful staff members every day, I look
forward to working with you and your family. My door is always open to
the community and I welcome your ideas and suggestions. I am
very confident that, when we work together, your student will achieve at
the highest levels, be provided with many opportunities to grow as a
citizen, develop positive relationships with adults and students, and
have an amazing experience at Pershing Middle School.
